Flowers! Taken around sunset, i think 530ish. i found this little greenhouse place near my house, they had really pretty flowers

  1. Gorgeous. The isolated flower with field of flowers in the background. The flowers in the background have the effect of an impressionistic painting (Monet?)contrasted with the single in-focus bloom.

  3. I think this is really beautiful. I love how only the one flower is in focus and all the colors kind of blend together in the background. ~Felicia

  4. Maybe it is due to how much I have been thinking about Somer’s work lately, but I think the image would be stronger without the in-focus flower! The blurred background has a lovely painterly quality and I feel the image is successful on that basis. There is enough information in the background to let me figure out that flowers are the subject matter. Removing the in-focus flower makes the image “suggestive rather than descriptive, alluding to places rather than describing them explicitly.” (quote from , Uta Barth, Wikipedia
